Itinerary

This is the complete 9-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking package plan. 3 nights, 4 days of trekking, 3 nights in Kathmandu, and 2 nights in Pokhara. 

  • Day: 1
    Arrive in Kathmandu.

    Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Rugged Trails Nepal, who will take you to your hotel. Welcome drinks upon arrival at the hotel, free time until 6 pm. Evening welcome dinner in a traditional Nepali restaurant with authentic Nepali cuisine and a cultural program.     Sightseeing around Kathmandu.

    After breakfast, we proceed with our short guided sightseeing tour at the Swayambhunath Temple. After Swayambhunath temple, we will visit another UNESCO World Heritage site, Patan Durbar Square, and the Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. After sightseeing, we drive back to the hotel for a briefing on our rest of the trip plan. At the same time, if you have to buy any trekking gear or things for the rest of the day, the guide will help take you to the trekking equipment store in Thamel.

    Kathmandu Drive to Pokhara. 210 Km

    Rugged Trails Nepal trekking guide will come to your hotel in the morning. A scenic drive towards Pokhara. If you want to stop for rafting (optional), then we will pass through the most popular Trishuli River. Check-in at your hotel, and the evening is free for walking around Fewa Lake. Our guide will help you and show you the places around. It's nice to stay by the Fewa Lake for the mountains, sunset, and evening view.

    Note: The listed price is based on a tourist bus, so if you want to fly to Pokhara or want to take a private car, then ask for the rate. Rafting on the way is only possible by taking a private car.

    Pokhara Drive to Ulleri and Trek to Ghorepani.

    After having breakfast in your hotel, we will take a 2- to 3-hour maximum drive from Pokhara to Ulleri village. The driving distance from Pokhara to Ulleri is about 50 kilometers. The road up to Nayapul is paved, but after that, it's off-road. There will be a porter to carry your bag for Ghorepani Trekking, and the real trek starts from Ulleri village. Before reaching Ulleri in Nayapul, our guide will clear our entry permits with TAAN and Annapurna Conservation Area. Follow the dirt roads up to Ulleri. From here, we can see Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Heuchuli, and the beautiful Ulleri Gurung village.

    A scenic walk through lush forest, streams, rivers, waterfalls, and small local tea houses. From Banthanthi, you will be able to see Mt. Fishtail, but after reaching Ghorepani, you will be amazed by the giant mushrooms (mountains). If the weather is clear and you are interested in seeing the sunset from Poonhill, then hike up to Poon Hill, which is about a 45-minute walk from Ghorepani, so consult with your guide. However, you are going for sunrise in the morning. The walking distance from Ghorepani to Poon Hill is about 1.5 km.

    Poon Hill (3,210 M) 10,532 ft and Trek to Tadapani.

    It depends on the season, but normally you wake up early, around 5 a.m., or your guide will inform you about the time. Our guide will escort you to the sunrise and mountain view at Poon Hill. It's pretty much walking over stairs, so if you have a problem with your knees, it's better to carry your hiking poles. It takes about 45 to 1 hour to reach Poon Hill from Ghorepani. Enjoy the sunrise, Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna Ranges, Dhaulagiri Ranges, Tukuche Peak, and amazing landscapes. 

    We will hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast, and after breakfast, our trek continues towards Tadapani. The beginning hike from Ghorepani up to Deurali is slightly uphill, but after that, it is a bit flat and downhill. The last point is uphill and takes about 45 to 1 hour. Enjoy the golden view of Annapurna south, Heuchuli, and Fishtail from the Tadapani.

    From Tadapani, we can see stunning views of Annapurna South, Mt. Fishtail, and Heuchuli. Sunset photography over the Annapurna south is one the best highlights from this place.

    Tadapani Trek to Ghandruk.

    The trail is shorter and easier today. Enjoy the morning sunrise view from Tadapani and trek to Ghandruk Village. The way to Ghandruk from Tadapani is quite peaceful, and during the springtime, it's beautiful with flowers. Ghandruk village is a big Gurung community settlement village. Trekking trails are flat, downhill, but easy to walk. We will have lunch at Ghandruk village, and in the in the evening will visit Gurung Museum and take a take a short village walk. Enjoy the last night in the Mountain Village. Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Heuchuli will be shining all the time here. If you want to experience the homestay with the local family, then consult with the guide because you can cook in their local kitchen.

    Ghandruk - Nayapul - Pokhara.

    Today is the last day of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Circuit Trek, which ends after having a yummy mountain breakfast in Ghandruk village. We have cut the walking section today because almost all the routes from Ghandruk to Nayapul are next to the road, which is dusty and a bit annoying to walk with the hunks and dust. 

    Breakfast time is at 7 in the morning. Enjoy the mountain views, and after that, the Jeep will be ready in Ghandruk village. Drive to Pokhara, which takes about 2 hours, and the rest of the day you can enjoy boating around the lakes, massages, and visiting popular tourist sites such as Davis Fall, Peace Stupa, Shiva Statue, and mountain museums.

    Pokhara drive to Kathmandu.
