    Gyantse is a small agricultural town famous for its fort, this unique structure built in 1414 AD consists of five stories representing the five steps to enlightenment, topped by thirteen rings, which symbolize the stages of advancement towards Buddhahood. Palkhor Chode Monastery is one of the cosmopolitan art monasteries of Gyantse. Palkhor chode was founded in 1418 and was originally a compound containing 15 monasteries from 3 of Tibet’s 4 main sects of Buddhism.
